A
Word About Dental Insurance
Dental "insurance" works in
a very different way from medical insurance.
To put it bluntly, when it is needed the
most, it helps the least. Typically, medical
insurance pays more for the more expensive
procedures with a very high "cap".
Dental insurance, on the other hand, pays
most for the lower cost procedures - exams,
x-rays, cleanings, etc., and less for
the more expensive procedures - fillings,
inlays/onlays, crowns, bridges, dentures,
etc. In addition, the "cap" is generally low, in the range of $1,000.00
- $2,000.00 per year. When faced with
doing extensive work to rehabilitate the
mouth, dental insurance helps very little.
We will always do what we can to help
maximize the benefits available through
your insurance; however, please understand
that our first and foremost priority is
to establish and maintain optimal oral
health for our family of patients. Our
plan will be based solely on treatment
required to reach that goal, NOT on what
insurance dictates. We consider this to
be our ethical duty to our patients.
When coming for your first visit, please,
make sure to bring your insurance card.
Once your insurance information is entered
into our computer, you will not need to
bring another form for subsequent visits.
If you have any questions about your
dental insurance program, please feel
free to call and speak with my Financial/Insurance
Coordinator - Debra J. Barber. She will
be glad to assist you with your financial
needs.
