Cosmetic Dentistry

As the name implies, cosmetic dentistry is oriented toward improving appearance. These are typically elective procedures the patient selects in consultation with Dr. Harriett designed to correct problems such as discolored teeth, undesired spacing of the teeth, and crooked or misaligned teeth. Included among these procedures are:

Fixed Restorative Dentistry

The purpose of Restorative Dentistry is to correct problems such diseased or broken teeth, missing teeth, and teeth with defective existing restorations(fillings, crowns, etc.). Fixed Restorative Dentistry utilizes devices which are cemented or bonded to the existing teeth or implants. Once they are placed in the mouth they can only be removed by your dentist.

Removable Restorative Dentistry

The purpose of this category of restorative dentistry is to replace missing teeth. Typically, removable appliances are more economical than fixed restorations, but have many more drawbacks. Included among these procedures are:

Preventive Dentistry

These procedures are oriented toward attempting to intercept oral health problems before they occur as well as to maintain optimal oral health for our patients’ lifetime. Included among these procedures are:

• x-rays: panoramic, bitewing check-up, and periapical(small films that show the
  roots and surrounding bone of a limited number of teeth on each film)
• Periodontal Probing
  • Diagnodent laser decay detection
• Oral Cancer Screening
• Brush Biopsy
